Northwest Justice Project — Eviction Defense Screening Line & CLEAR

Statewide phone and online routes to free civil legal aid for low-income people. The Eviction Defense Screening Line (1-855-657-8387) screens tenants facing eviction to see if they qualify for a free attorney under Washington's right-to-counsel law. CLEAR handles other civil legal problems (King County residents call 2-1-1 for this). These are screening and callback lines, not a 24-hour live service: you may need to leave a message and wait for a call back, and a lawyer is not guaranteed for every problem. Interpreters are available. Services: Eviction Defense Screening Line (1-855-657-8387); CLEAR legal advice/referral intake (1-888-201-1014); CLEAR*Online web application; senior line 1-888-387-7111

Hours: Eviction Defense Screening Line: weekdays; a partner fact sheet (May 2026) lists 8:30am-7pm, but I could not confirm this on an official page, so call on a weekday during the day. Leave a voicemail if no one answers; calls are returned. CLEAR (outside King County): Mon-Fri 9:15am-12:15pm. King County: call 2-1-1 on weekdays (published hours differ, about 8am-6pm on the Washington Courts page and 9am-5pm in NJP's indexed text). Seniors 60+: 1-888-387-7111, Mon-Fri 9:15am-12:15pm.

Phone: Eviction: 1-855-657-8387; CLEAR: 1-888-201-1014 (King County: dial 211); Seniors 60+: 1-888-387-7111
